Collision Course is a comedy involving spaceships, gods and the laws of physics! The play follows the attempt of spaceships to save the world from an incoming meteor despite the unintentional interference of the gods.

Drama is very popular with pupils and can be used to stimulate discussion and debate. This play takes place in outer space and on Mount Olympus. Pupils will enjoy performing the play, but there are ample opportunities for discussing some basic physics around the laws of motion and the motion of the planets.

Nick McIvor has specially written this play for Science Year. You are free to copy the script and use it internally. Any institution is entitled to produce the play for a non-paying audience without making any further payment. However, if the play is to be performed with a charge to audience members, a licence must be obtained. Details can be obtained from info@nickmcivor.com

  • Perform the play as an engaging introduction to or a revision of the laws of motion or the motion of the planets.
  • Peform the play as part of a science department open day for parents or primary school children.
  • As an extension activity ask pupils to write a scene where the gods have kidnapped another famous scientist in order to learn some more science.
