4 SCIENCE has produced 18 assignments,
collectively known as Science Where
You Least Expect It! They encourage
non-scientists to embrace just a little
bit of science, developing skills
and quashing a few "science is
boring" stereotypes. As an added
incentive, 4 SCIENCE, in association
with Science Year, is offering a prize
to the student that produces the best
assignment.
The assignments are presented in
the Cross-curricular
section of this website. The resource
also includes a handy teacher guide
and stimulating source material. Have
a look and let your students go for
it!
The assignments may be used to cover
aspects of non-science post-16 coursework
requirements. In doing so they also
enable a number of key skills to be
developed. Students may complete any
of the assignments for the competition.
Schools should submit their best
assignments direct to 4 SCIENCE by
the end of June 2002. 4 SCIENCE and
Science Year will judge the entries
and invite the winner to a prize ceremony
in London at the end of September.
At the ceremony the student, together
with a representatives from his/her
school, will receive the prize (with
a whopping total value of £350),
as well as lavish praise and attention!
