Science Where You Least Expect It!

4 SCIENCE has produced eighteen assignments and a teacher's guide to encourage non-scientists to embrace a little science - increasing student's skills whilst quashing a few "science is boring" stereotypes.

All assignments have been written to cover a variety of non-science post-16 coursework requirements. In doing so they develop a number of key skills.

Each assignment includes background material, 'What you need to do' instructions and a list of reference materials that students may find helpful.

Archaeology, Art, Business Studies, Communication Studies, Drama, English Language and Literature, Geography, General Studies, History, Leisure and Recreation, Media Studies, Travel and Tourism are all covered by aspects of the assignments.

As an added incentive 4 SCIENCE, in association with Science Year, is offering a prize to the student that produces the best assignment. The resource files include a poster to advertise the competition in your school or college.

The Teacher's Guide provides information on where and how each resource could be used within science lessons and elsewhere in the curriculum. Links to A-Level coursework requirements for all subjects and examining boards are given at the end of the Teacher's Guide.

We suggest you print out the Teacher's Guide and distribute it to all departments in your school/college. They can then access appropriate material from this website.
