Regulations made under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 require a risk assessment to be carried out before hazardous chemicals are used or made, harmful micro-organisms used or a hazardous procedure is carried out. HEALTH & SAFETY PDF

From the 'Home' page you can reach the section you wish to view by clicking on the title in the left-hand menu, or on one of the main activity images in the centre of the page. Many of the left-hand sections also contain resources for you to use.

You can click on the 'Back' button on your web-browser menu (at the top of your screen) to return to a previous page, or click on the 'Home' button to return to the opening page of the site.

Various icons are used to help you navigate individual sections.

 

This indicates sub-sections of a page. Clicking on one of these icons will move your view down the page to the specific sub-section you require.

This indicates a PDF resource file which you can view and print-off.

There are also many hyper links to web sites contained in this CD. Hyper links look like www.scienceyear.com . Simply click on the link and the site will launch in your web browser. Please note you must be connected to the Internet for the links to work.

Pupil, Teacher and Technician Notes on the CD are presented as PDF files. This CD uses PDF documents extensively. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or above to view these files. Acrobat Reader 5.0 is available to download from this CD, or from the Adobe website www.adobe.co.uk. To access PDF files simply click on the link and the document will load in your Acrobat Software.

To install Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 from this CD:

1. Remove any previous versions of Acrobat Reader fully from your computer.
2. Follow the instructions on the PDF Software section of the CD, or:

For Windows:
Browse the CD-ROM, locate and double click the file 'ar500enu.exe'
Located in: 'sycd \ acrobat \ win'

For Macintosh:
Browse the CD-ROM, locate and double click the file 'reader installer'
Located in: 'sycd \ acrobat \ mac'

The PowerPoint and Word files provided on this website must be saved to your computer hard drive before you can view or amend them. You must have the relevant software installed to view them. Please follow the instructions given with these files.

To save the documents to your hard disk:

Internet Explorer
Windows - right click the link & select "Save Target As" to save this document to your hard disk.
Macintosh - click the link and the document will load in the application. Select File\Save As to save to your hard disk.

Netscape
Windows - click the link and select "save it to disk" to save this document to your hard disk
