Drama is very popular with pupils and can be used to stimulate discussion and debate.

Moon Lander is a script for pupils studying the Solar System. Written by teachers at Paddock Wood Primary School, Tonbridge, it provides an introduction for pupils aged 9-12 to gravity, space travel and the moon.

MOON LANDER

  • Use the play as a stimulus for pupils to write their own scripts exploring other bodies in the Solar System.
  • Put on a production in assembly time, perhaps to launch National Science Week in your school. You could use the play as part of a Science Fair with a space theme - invite a local astronomer into school, use the assembly speech provided on this CD ROM, exhibit pupil work on the Solar System, hold a water rocket competition (help on rocket production is given in the Liftoff! resource), visit a science centre, bring a mobile planetarium into school etc. More information on running science fairs is given in the Events section of this CD ROM.
