An assembly can raise the profile of science in your school. The aim of the CD ROM assembly series is to make pupils more aware of their need for scientific understanding in the world outside school. This assembly focuses on the controversy surrounding mobile phones.

There are three ways in which this resource could be used:

  • A headteacher, head of year or science teacher could present the material in the form of a speech.
  • Pupils could use the material to present a debate style assembly.
  • Pupils could use the material as a guide to producing their own assembly on a different controversial topic.

This assembly is based on material from the Pupil Researcher Initiative (PRI) Ideas and Evidence resource pack. The whole PRI CD ROM covers all the examination board requirements in this area through thirty contemporary and historical science case studies. More information about PRI can be found at: www.shu.ac.uk/pri
