Post-16 Student Competition

Science for Life is running a national competition, which invites project-based presentations from student groups, and includes a great top prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Bayer's research facilities in Germany.

Students will submit their written entries. After this, three finalists in each of the twelve regions throughout the country will be selected. All 36 regional finalists will receive a webcam to make up to a 4 minute presentation. A winner will be selected from each region to go through to the national final by our judging panel.

Bayer plc
is a subsidiary of Bayer AG - one of the world's largest and most diversified chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Bayer plc is the major company in the Bayer Group's United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland Region.

Where will the next Einstein, Hawking or, for that matter, Hoffman (the inventor of Aspirin) or Bayer
(the inventor of polyurethanes) come from?

At Bayer, we have made education a central plank of our community programme for many years. Our close working partnership with the National EBP network has ensured that our education initiatives have been successful and S4L looks to meet and exceed all of our expectations.

Why? Because with fewer young people taking the science option, it's harder for companies like us to recruit good, science-based employees.

So it's in our interests, as well as the students', to show that the world of science is fascinating, challenging, varied, rewarding and, above all, fun!

The twelve national finalists will have their webcam presentation shown "live" on the website for the national online voting. The online 'vote-a-thon' will decide the winner and runner-up.

Winner - a cheque to the school for £500 and an all expenses paid visit for the team and a teacher to visit Bayer's world headquarters in Leverkusen, for exclusive tours of this multi million pound research and development company.

Runner up - £250 for the school and individual team prizes.

National finalists - £100 for the school and individual team prizes.

Regional finalists- receive a webcam for the school.
